Anatomy and Physiology Online

I actually found this website a few days ago as I was working on my audio project. Primal Online Learning--The Future of Medical Education http://www.primalonlinelearning.com/students.aspx I think the program is awesome and the best anatomy website that I've seen so far.  You have to pay for the online course, which is such a bummer because the website is very informative.  I would advise everyone to at least look at the demo for this online module.  They also have a user guide on how to use their website and navigate between each module.  This module is more for college students because of the complexity of the information.  It includes graphics using 3-D images, videos, and text for each section.  I gave this module such a high rating because if I would have known about this module when I was in undergrad, I would have actually paid for and used it myself.  I am a MRI technologist and although I do not need to know the organ systems and functions, I have to know all the muscles, bones and organs to successfully do my job.  I took A&P I&II, with over 100 students in each class and it is very hard to hear the profession in large classes, difficult for the professors to keep up with each student, and work with each student one on one.  I feel like consumers that purchase this module really get more than their money's worth.

  1. That was amazing. It might as well have been an interactive textbook. The interactive skeletal system was outstanding and the organization of the site was 100% positive in my book. Many students can benefit from this type of supplemental instruction

  2. This site offers a great supplement for students. The 3-D models and interactive lessons would really help students in this course. There were several modules available.

The price of $125 is comparable to a textbook. However, I am not sure if I would invest that amount for the website.

  3. The 3D images and graphics are very realistic! I also think it's very beneficial for instructors to be able to use this in a variety of methods such as being able to import the pre-made quizzes into any LMS. I agree with the other comments, the use of these modules could be a great substitution for a textbook and/or suppliment it!

  4. This is an awesome resource. The only downfall is that it does cost money. After watching the demo, I think it is well worth the cost. I think that this resource is just a good as a textbook or better because it has 3D images and graphics that bring more understanding to the students. It looks like it would be easy to navigate by looking at the structure in the demo. I would definitely give it an A in the ratings.

  5. I thought this website was obviously among the best as far as professionalism goes. The content goes far beyond my area of expertise, but I can at least see that the organization was accomplished by professionals, and they spared no expense at making sure the visuals and animations were clear and supportive of the content. I can surely understand why this site is not free.

  6. Neat website!!! I went to a Healthy Heart and Healthy Lung workshop not too long ago and this website could really go well with the lessons taught. I like all the options the site provides.

  7. This website is great! I love the pronunciation guide considering I always say those big words incorrectly. I have never had an A&P class, but if I need one in the future, I'll keep this website in mind.

  8. This site is awesome. It's worth the price of a textbook, but you get so much more with the 3D models and extra quizzes, notes, etc. I thought it was well organized, and would be a very helpful site to anyone going into the Anatomy field as a major.

  9. Wow this is amazing. I wish I had something like this when I was learning about that stuff. The 3-D modules look awesome and it amazes me you can take those images and dissect them down to smaller pieces to look deeper into the anatomy. I thought the audio punctuation guide would be very beneficial, especially those who are possibly using this as an asynchronous course. If it were free it would be even better. ;)

  10. Yes this website set the bar. Science usually makes my head hurt :) but the 3-D modules made it fascinating. Technology never ceases to amaze me! Would I pay for it? It would depend because I believe there are many educational resources that are available for free. Goodness knows we spend enough of our own money on resources like it is!!!

  11. Yes, I agree. Money is really hard to come by when you are already paying thousands in tuition. I think this software would be better put to use by a professor as a supplement to their class. The University would then be responsible for subscription costs and students would have free access, besides tuition, to a great educational course.

  12. This is a really cool site! Wow! I love the animations, 3D models and the fact that they can be disected! I was fascinated by what I say and think they are trying to create a real-world experience for the students. The pronunciation guide is a great addition too. This is way outside my content field, but I think they certainly used technology to the greatest advantage in designing this site.

  13. Cool website! I did however find it to be a bit pricey. I like the graphics and the 3D models. I don't think it would be appropriate for elementary kids, but possibly for high school students and definately for college students.

  14. Just another example of the simpler media "animation" is very effective compared to more complex "video". Site seemed worthy of paying if you are in this field of study.

  15. I agree that this site is a very professional one for its field of study. I especially liked the pronunciation guide because the medical vocabulary can be hard to pronounce most of the time. And, the animation and 3-D model is very appropriate for the visual learning of the content. Now that you guys have been undergoing the design and development of multimedia for your own website for a while, I believe you can appreciate how much work it has taken to create a sophisticated site like this. And, this is why I guess you can understand how much it needs to charge to cover the cost for the development. :)
